Sharing a wall

Seems entirely appropriate since we also share much else -- a life, a bed, interests, our daughter Jenny.  And I appropriate his name although he’s not inclined to do the same with mine as convention asserts its prerogatives.

An exhibit:
His black and white photos on top -- mine, the colour pastels and heavier stuff down below.
On till the end of April at HPL Hamilton Public Library on York Blvd.

Poised

On slightly wrinkled paper,  this paper looks to be more wrinkled than it actually is - the young model  also trains as a gymnast.

Cogito ergo sum

Cartesian - I think therefore I am or thinking precedes existence or I think therefore I strive.

Young woman wearing a hat

She also wore a lot of make-up which I chose to ignore as much as possible with some difficulty.

Inward looking

Perhaps absorbed with her own thoughts yet possibly aware of some degree of scrutiny from others - or both.

I received this deliciously painted  award from long time friend and fellow artist, Barbara Muir
two weeks ago. She has also promised to prepare a nutritious repast for me the next time I visit,
peach crepes and I suppose strawberries will soon be in season as well.
But she is v busy with a show coming up at the Amsterdam Whitney gallery in NY so I'll give her breathing space until after that exhibit - one must be considerate! Thank you Barbara for this Happy Art Award, it makes me v happy and a tad hungry as well.

Tree in winter - 2012

That winter there was no snow to speak of, it came and went like a transient fair-weather friend. the local winter sports enthusiasts among us shrugged or wore long faces.

Chalk on Tuesday

As opposed to ink Tuesday. This could also be read as chalk on or good point, or  chalk it up to experience etc

Left arm extended

Bill is in charge of the music while we draw. He plays everything from light classical to you name it. Not long ago he played country and western -  He's in the Jailhouse Now - mildly catchy - since then it’s been determinedly lodged in my head  and  without thinking about it I'll find  myself humming the first line - background music I suppose - doesn't really interfere with one's concentration.

Contemplation

We thought we might possibly join a fitness club this month. Walk to the gym - 20 minutes, treadmill and weights - 30 minutes, walk home another 20 minutes. I feel better already  just thinking about it.

Yoga instructor

i remember that this model was able to assume and sustain difficult  poses graciously, uncomplainingly with apparent ease and she was in fact a yoga instructor which makes me feel that I might benefit from a yoga class if I weren’t so resistant.

On another planet

Apparently it was colder in all of wintry Ontario yesterday than it was on Mars at least according to the Mars Curiosity Rover – no kidding,  really...

I suppose we could consider moving to Mars but than D would have to grow his own tomatoes! Nope out of the question.
