March continues the presence of winter

The glamour of snow, its irresistible allure endures - preferring not  to be upstaged by thawing. The set designer for spring has  taken a leave of absence, some say indefinitely, wanting  the play of snow to have a longer run.
Last week a brisk and stinging wind made snow rendering a serious undertaking. Night time schnapps restores circulation.

  2. Love your snow rendering. And at this time of year, knowing that true spring can't be more than two months away I start to miss winter. I may be sorry I said that. But not today. Beautiful work.

  3. I keep coming back to look at these Marcia. They are so fresh and energised. That is the best way to paint I am sure. What I also like is that I can see immediately how the figure drawing has impact here. The two are seamless. Hope you manage to do more soon!

  4. Hey Marcia, these are wonderful - the colours and lines so expressive and you have destroyed the barrier between painting and drawing. I have tried to leave a comment before now but something happened - can't remember what.
    Are you still art making?

  5. Dear dears everyone - Doug, Barbara, Sheila'

i apologize for being something of a fool and waiting so ridiculously long to publish all your über, undeservedly kind comments. In my defense I have been totally taken up with non blogging activities - out of necessity and choice I suppose - the details of which would bore even myself whose capacity for self boredom has no set limits.
Having been born at some point in the last century long before the advent of computer , I need to distance myself from its addictive fascination in order to reconnect myself with simple nature - mundane (spring/summer) activities which include above all else finishing work in my studio.
I’m not oblivious to the excitement of blogging and will take a stab at it sooner hopefully than later and I always hope you will find time to drop by and say a few words.
    xo's, Marcia

  6. Hi Marcia - just so beautiful! I always think of you as mainly a figurative artist, but you are wonderful with landscapes, as well. These pieces display the same emotion as your figurative work. Lovely!
