The so called virtue of being in the moment during an
afternoon of short poses is more like submission to a drill – a willingness or at times unwilling submission to
necessity of blackened fingers.

Worth it -- your charcoal covered fingers did magical work. Love these drawings. You are the best at this! Such magnificent figurative work.

Barbara,
DeleteIt's tremendously validating to receive your comment after which I'm tempted to leave my charcoal smeared fingers unwashed for a week. I won't of course.
Thank you so much!!!

Hi Marcia,
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while I know but I crawling out of my hole to comment.
I really love these short poses. Great spontaneous line and shading
to capture the moment. I always admired your talent for this medium and subject matter. Keep it up.

Thank you very much for visiting!!!
Hope all is well with you in your neck of the woods and that you are finding time to put brush to paper!!!

They are wonderful Marcia - I just posted some quick poses too! They really take us to the line don't they, but often I look back and think some of my better work was done from quick poses.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sheila, for your comment. I agree, they really do take us to the line and maybe even further than the line or a moveable shifting line -maybe it's the freshness of the experience that we value.
ReplyDeleteI noted your recent drawings, they're marvelous!
