I half remember a quote about the light bulb – that the person who invented the electric light did more for civilization than all the ------ all the what, all the who - put together? Was it Camus, Graham Greene, no not him - some one else - a brilliant well lit mind? Well it’s nearly midnight and half the lights in our house are still blazing – the darkest and conceivably one of the busiest times of year.
The season for strings of decorative lights competing and celebrating with the firmaments, street lamps, headlights of cars, ruby red tail lights – all to read by- to blog by----
Seasonal greetings to all my Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and secular friends! And foremost - happy holidays and best wishes to all my wonderful blogging friends from whom I derive so much delight and inspiration! Love and peace to you all.

May I join with you in wishing people of all faiths, a joyous time and renewed hope for peace in the world, the kind that really does change the old paradigms into plowshares.
ReplyDeleteThese two works are lighted from within, I think. The first one is especially beautiful in contrast, composition and line.
Wishing you and yours a very happy and blessed new year (lots of art, lots of good times, lots of good health!)
The colours you use for your model are wonderful intensive and your exprssion is very lively! Thanks for your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll let me join you too in wishing all people a joyous holiday. But these drawings are beyond superb!!!!! (Extra exclamation marks indicate excitement.) Super, adroit, msterly,

There can't be enough wishes for peace in this world, so I would like to add mine. Likewise, there can't be enough expessions of art in this world, so you have generously added yours. I'd like to think we all make the world a better place.
ReplyDeleteHi Marcia - these are wonderful drawings and I LOVE the way you've used color on them. Feet are tough to draw, but these are just perfect! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYes Lady Melinda, so glad to have you join in with cumulative wishes for peace and merriment! I'm so happy to have gotten to know you over this past year - your blog and your work are a constant source of inspiration to me!!!! And thank you always for your kind, sensitive comments!
ReplyDeletexo, Marcia
Kathrin I am very delighted to receive your comments! Now I am encouraged. I tend to grab what ever is close at hand and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying your work which is truly superlative!!!
All the best for a productive New Year!
Marcia
Barbara do you realize that it's because of you that I blog in the first place? Do you realize also that you and I knew one another before we met our husbands?! That's pretty intense as far as a special enduring friendship goes!
ReplyDeleteThank you always for your encouragement and humor and special insouciance and love of art making!
Love, Marcia.
Sam I first became aware of your adorable and amazing blog through Melinda. Anyone who could make a pun about dogs knowses had to be someone I had to meet if not in person than at least through the blog universe. I remember when I was a child how fascinated I became by looking at my dog's nose and my all consuming desire to touch it but he would never let me. Anyway your blog contributes constantly to the hilarity and sheer joy of being. I love your work.

Hi Connie,
ReplyDeleteI am extremely happy that you like these drawings and notice the feet. Yes the feet - that is a special compliment coming from one who spends a great deal of time drawing and painting feet - and of dancers no less.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday and New Year!
Marcia
Love how you use color in figure work.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jala! I don't always feel on solid ground with color but it's nice of you to say that!
